My fiance and I greatly enjoyed our stay at the Smaragdi Hotel. Maria and her team were so helpful and kind and were there to answer any questions we had. When we asked about sailing cruises around the caldera, Maria booked us a spot (for the next day!) with Spiridakos sailing cruises, which was by far our favorite part of the entire trip. Our room was very clean and we never had any issues with housekeeping whatsoever. The pool is absolutely gorgeous, with plenty of seating, and the bar area conveniently ran a tab for us for the duration of our stay so we didn’t have to bother paying for our drinks as we ordered them. The hotel is about a 5 minute walk from the black sand beach and has relations with 2 of the beach front restaurants that allows you to use their sun beds at no cost. Also there is the most amazing and authentic Greek restaurant just north of the hotel (about a 5 minute walk in the opposite direction of the beach) where we had the best souvlaki platter, far better than many of the touristy restaurants along the beach (although we did enjoy many of those places as well).
