The mountain village of Pyrgos Kallistis is located at the foot of Mount Profitis Ilias and is surrounded by vineyards that produce the famous white wines of the Assyrtiko variety. In the steep, medieval streets there are wine bars and taverns, galleries and boutiques. The Santorini Museum of the Past presents exhibits from the island’s traditional life, while the Icons and Ecclesiastical Artefacts Museum, housed in the former Holy Trinity Chapel, features religious relics.
